Growing up in Colombia, South America, Fernando was always taking things apart to figure out how they worked. At first his mom found this behavior frustrating, but then she embraced his curiosity and encouraged him to explore to his heart's content.
Fast-forward a few decades, and Fernando received his Ph.D. in Nanoscale Engineering from the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Albany, New York. While there, Fernando channeled his curiosity into making new and affordable materials for energy storage applications.
Fernando's story and business are at the core of our Battery Builders curriculum module, which includes elementary lessons that can be used in ELA, math, science, art and social studies classes. Click here to learn more.
